About The Carol Burnett Show While there’s no truth to the rumor that “CBS” ever stood for The Carol Burnett Show, for eleven seasons and 278 episodes, this star-studded extravaganza of sketch comedy, song and dance became entertainment central for the network and TV viewers. Taped before a live audience at Hollywood’s CBS Television City Studio 33, The Carol Burnett Show featured clever, dazzling production numbers in an intimate environment, thanks to strategic camera placement that brought the actors and audience closer together. Burnett operated in a relaxed theater setting that allowed her to take questions, cut loose with her famous Tarzan yell and join fellow performers Harvey Korman, Vicki Lawrence and Lyle Waggoner to have a laugh or sing a song. The show received 25 Emmy Awards and eight Golden Globes, making it one of the most honored shows in television history. TIME Magazine named The Carol Burnett Show one of the "100 Best Television Shows of all Time" and Carol Burnett has been honored with more People's Choice Awards than any other actress. it was the timing in "someone's in the kitchen with dinah" that killed. the little pauses between each line of the song turned it from amusing to REALLY funny. and then at the end of each verse there are these horrible, slightly-too-long extra moments of silence before the next verse inevitably grinds into motion, that make it MURDEROUSLY HILARIOUS.
That Hitler puppet has got to be one of the funniest three minutes ever on television.

I wonder what the prop department was thinking when Conway came up and said..."I need a Hitler puppet and you can't tell anyone about it."
The Hitler hand puppet is the best part of this entire skit! LOL!
Brian Hamilton
Brian Hamilton:
Harvey's German gibberish is genius.
That poor bastard is trying so hard not to laugh at that puppet!
Erik Blankenship
Erik Blankenship:
The whole bit with the hand puppet wasn't in the script at all. The look Lyle gave Harvey was "WTF is this?!" This bit still kills me today.
When Tim breaks out the puppet, Lyle looks like "I knew I should've called in sick."
RIP Tim Conway. Heaven is rolling with laughter today....

Tim knew he could break Harvey.... but he wouldn’t stop til Lyle broke
I’m already really missing Tim Conway. That’s a huge loss

That fake German language!!! 😂😂😂
Heard of Tim Conway's death and it immediately made me think of this. The only time he ever got Lyle Waggoner to break.
Whether it was "Mc Hales Navy" or "The Carol Burnett Show". Thank you TIM CONWAY for doing your part to help save mankind with your gift and talent. May GOD bless your legacy..

"And part of Canada..."!!!🤣😂🤣😂🤣
I'd trade all the stupid selfies, grams, tweets, and such, for the time when we could ACTUALLY MAKE FUN OF OURSELVES AND HISTORY, wout everyone being so damned serious and offended so easily.

Harvey Korman and Tim Conway--comic geniuses on a par with Laurel and Hardy. I am old enough to remember when this sketch originally aired. My sister and I almost peed our pants from laughing so hard when Conway pulls out the Hitler hand puppet.
Harvey Korman and Tim Conway were such great comedians. That type of clean comedy is long since faded away. What do we gave now? Comedy that has nothing but every dirty word in every sentence. I exclude George Carlin from that because I was such a great fan of his!!!!

Geoff Conrad:
What a comedic masterpiece.

As funny as Conway is, it's even funnier watching Harvey (the World's Worst Giggler) desperately trying to keep a straight face as Tim works his magic. He really was - and is - the greatest television sketch comedian of all time. :D

The perfect torture device...make them laugh until they talk!
Just look at Lyle Waggoner, he's struggling to keep a straight face.

This is one of my all time favorite sketches! When Tim pulls out the Hitler puppet and the puppet pulls out a pencil to hit Lyle I still laugh. Even after seeing it many times. I always buy any Carol Burnett shows I can. I hope to be able to collect them all. I wish they would release them in broadcast order instead of jumping around.

Tim Conway made Hitler funny.  RIP, sir, the world will not see your like again.

Jack Tripper
Jack Tripper:
the "comedy" writers of today should feel nothing but disgust with themselves after watching this sketch, this is funny, this is how you do set ups, this is genius! sad state of affairs in the world but thank god for up loaders for showing us pure hilarity.
Everyone loves The Dentist sketch, and the Siamese Elephant sketch, but I think this is the most underrated one ever. It always cracks me up!! He even got Lyle!! Aww Tim, you're already so this part of Canada. Rest Easy, and thank you for the laughs. Say hi to Harvey for us.
Lyle simply COULD NOT hold it in anymore,LOL!!! he was dying with laughter....and we all know that Tim was not going to give up until Lyle lost it,as he SO clearly did. Tim Conway is the master at comedy ad lib, there's no one better;his timing is impeccable....I've always been certain that the entire puppet bit was ad lib by Tim,(as was his"elephant story" in another episode)and that neither Lyle nor Harvey knew what was coming. Sheer Brilliance! :)

Tim Conway is a comedic legend.
This shows Conway's comedic skills, apparently Lyle Waggoner was one of two actors on the show that were extremely difficult to make crack up.......the other was Vicki Lawrence
Comedy today is either vulgar or political. This is true comedic genius. Love it!

I wonder how many takes they made due to laughing before the whole skit was completed!
I was saddened to hear this morning that Tim Conway had passed away. I immediately thought of this skit and went looking for it online. It's one of the few comedy routines I can remember seeing on TV during my childhood. It's as hysterical as I remember. Thanks, Tim. Looking forward to hearing someday how you made St. Peter crack up when you arrived. Rest in peace.

I loved this show. I was a pre teen -teenager for 70s. It was always a laugh even into my early twenty. The cast was One of a kind. There is no show that will ever match the CBS
There, you see? Steve Trevor doesn't always need Wonder Woman's help!

Wolfgang Schweinhund. Now that's funny! I love the way they used to crack each other up. And I can hear just a touch of Danny Kaye in Korman's comedic spoken "German".

Tim Conway had away of torturing fellow actors with laughter, believe me this is too funny and so enjoyable to watch- the skit might be corny but the comedy & timing is so great !
Thud Thud
Thud Thud:
Lyle Waggoner was actually being tortured in this skit by the Hitler puppet. You can tell by how he lost control. I think it looked unscripted, at least the bit with the pencil club and the song.
